What is a stout?

A dark ale brewed with roasted malt, giving coffee and chocolate flavours. Styles range from light and dry to rich and sweet.

Is stout high in alcohol?

Not usually, a classic dry stout is around 4–5%. Only imperial stouts are strong (8%+); the dark colour doesn’t mean high strength.
