Many Scottish ale styles use the "shilling" naming convention, based on the cost of cask (where stronger beer cost more). The old currency symbol "/ -" is pronounced "shilling." Our Scottish 80 / - is a malty Scottish-style beer that has a notes of caramel up front with malty flavors through the finish. Sparing use of hops provides a nice conterpoint for the malts. The 80 / - category has high enough alcohol content to be considered "export" - strong enough to survive shipment across the Atlantic back in the day. Our 80 / - is born and raised in Brookfield - no long ocean voyage required to enjoy this beer!
